Useful support lent by blenders and packagers, who sell to retail outlets in packets, helped increase tea sales at Coonoor auctions, despite the market being irregular market. Traders said the price was maintained at the bottom level while high-priced tea categories were irregular in sale no:4.
Global Tea Auctioneers said the sales percentage in leaf category was 96 out of the offered quantity of 14,04,765 kg. In dust, it was 72 per cent out of the offered quantity of 4,50,937 kg.

The high-priced teas were barely steady to occasionally dearer by ₹3-4 and more in line with quality. The better liquoring sorts were lower by ₹2-3. The better medium sorts were barely steady around last levels.
The mediums and plainer sorts bolder grades sold fully firm to dearer by ₹1-2. The brokens and fannings were also barely steady around the last sales levels. Generally, a good demand was noticed in the overall CTC leaf sale.
Highest price
In leaf orthodox, the primary whole leaf grades were generally lower by ₹3-4, occasionally some quality lots sold dearer by ₹3-4. The brokens had fair demand and sold dearer by ₹2 to 3.
In CTC dust, high-priced and better liquoring sorts generally lower by Rs8 to 10. The better medium sorts sold easier by ₹3 to 4 with fair withdrawals. Overall, a less demand was noticed in the CTC dust category.

The primary orthodox dust grades were lower by ₹5 to 6. The secondaries and finer dusts were also lower by ₹2-3. Homedale Estate- SRD sold at ₹247 is the highest prices realised in leaf and dust category for any CTC bought leaf factory in Sale No:04.
