Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV) announced the official launch of the BharatBenz heavy-duty truck (HDT) range with the delivery of 80 units of 3532CM mining tippers to a single customer.
Named as ‘Torqshift’, the heavy-duty truck is equipped with 12-speed Automated Manual Transmission (AMT). DICV will offer AMT in tractor trailers not only to enhance the productivity of the vehicles, but to play a critical role in improving road safety as well, said the wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG in a statement.
“With the new 12-speed AMT in our Construction and Mining trucks portfolio, the customers will see a significant benefit in productivity improvement in their operations and notable savings as the overall fleet efficiency will go up,” said President and Chief Business Officer, Sreeram Venkateswaran.
““The 12-speed AMT is a big triumph for us at India product engineering as we achieved our goal to introduce this transmission in our BharatBenz portfolio. This technology is designed to reduce driving stress and to ensure a faster turnaround with significantly higher fuel efficiency,” said President and Chief Technology Officer Pradeep Kumar Thimmaiyan.
