NEW DELHI: Data is raw wealth and should be utilized for productive purposes, a senior official said.

“Adoption of AI is not a decision but a natural course, it is raw wealth and should be utilized for productive purposes,” Surendra Ahirwar, Joint Secretary, Logistics & Trade , Ministry of Commerce & Industry told ET Infra.

He said that in the last three years, the government has graduated from establishing the system.

“We have tried technology adoption for most of the departments. So far, 44 ministries have come on board and the challenge was also to have states and UTs on board and they have all come on board,” Ahirwar added.

The data regarding the existing projects is required to plan future projects and in case of project expansion digital twin will be utilised, which will also fill the infrastructure gaps, if any.
